About Gonzales Dog Adoptions

Gonzales Dog Adoptions, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization proudly operating the Gonzales Municipal Dog Shelter for the City of Gonzales. As an open-door, no-kill municipal shelter, we are dedicated to giving every adoptable dog a chance at a loving home.

Located in a small rural community about 60 miles from both Austin and San Antonio, our shelter takes in around 30 dogs each month on average, despite a maximum capacity of just 20–25 dogs. We never turn away any dogs from within the City of Gonzales and do everything possible to avoid euthanizing adoptable dogs simply to make space.

Our reputation for compassionate care has grown beyond Gonzales County. Unfortunately, we are not legally allowed to accept dogs from outside Gonzales County, even though many people reach out for help. We appreciate your understanding.

Gonzales Dog Adoptions relies on donations and adoption fees to cover daily operational costs. Every donation goes directly to supporting our mission and helping dogs find safe, loving homes.

All of the dogs in our care are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and ready to meet their future families. We invite you to come visit the shelter and meet your new best friend!
